Nigeria To Play Hosts Morocco In Chan Final

Nigeria are set to face host of the African Championship of Nations (CHAN) 2018 Morocco on Sunday in the final. The West African giants defeated Sudan to in the last four to book a spot in the final but they face their sternest test against the hosts and North African soccer giants Morocco.
The Super Eagles will be playing in their first ever CHAN final since inception in 2007. Gabriel Okechukwu’s goal in the 16th minute was enough for Nigeria to see off Sudan, who later defeated Libya on penalties in the third place match.
Nigeria endured sustained attacks but Plateau United keeper Dele Ajiboye was impressive to deny the Sudanese side all through. The first choice Ikechukwu Ezenwa was injured early in the game so Ajiboye came on. He became the hero as he saved several goal bound efforts to ensure the score line remain unchanged.
Coach Salisu Yusuf and his boys would face a tough test as they would have the fans against them in the final. The Moroccan side are also technical and arguably the best team at the tournament. The Atlas Lions scored the most goals in the competition at 12 and have been dominant against their opponents all through.
The Nigerian side have been decent but far from eye catching. They played a draw against Rwanda in their opener and them managed to get past Libya. They had to come from behind to defeat Equatorial Guinea in the final round of group games. They had to dig deep to get past Angola in the extra time and managed to see of Sudan too. However their never die attitude has been their saving grace so far. They would have to post a better performance and remain lucky to get past the Moroccans and claim their first CHAN title.
