Liverpool won the Super Cup against Chelsea on Wednesday via penalties but the performance would have manager Jurgen Klopp worried.
The Reds were sluggish in the first half as Chelsea were unlucky to not go in front when wiNGER Pedro hit the crossbar from close range. Liverpool was regularly caught out with the high line that Jurgen Klopp appears to favour this season.
The three competitive matches that the club has played this season suggests that there is a problem on the right side of defence. Trent Alexander-Arnold has been regularly caught out by through balls which are a worrying sign for the club.
Alexander-Arnold showed last season that he could improve the defensive aspect of his game but appears to be lacking that extra sharpness this season.
The midfield has also shown why it is the weakest link of the team with lack of creativity. Naby Keita is always injured why Jordan Henderson and Wijnaldum offer little going forward. Fabinho has been excellent this season in the holding midfield role.
Klopp may have to extract quality minutes from the likes of Alex Chamberlain and Adam Lallana if he seeks to redress the issue.
Upfront is where Klopp has little worries due to the fearsome front three of Mohammed Salah, Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Mane showed against Chelsea that he is still very sharp despite returning late from the African Nations Cup with two goals. Roberto Firmino is widely regarded as the player that makes the attack tick and also showed his class with two assists.
Salah is a sure banker to reach 20 plus goals this season and the Reds can always rely on him to deliver the goals in crucial moments. The backup options could be a source of concern as DivorkOrigi remains the only major source of goals from the bench.
