Manchester United target Harry Kane has revealed that he has idolised David Beckham for a long time. Beckham is considered as a legend at Old Trafford despite his career with United coming to an abrupt halt after his fall out with Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former United, Real Madrid, and AC Milan midfielder is seen as one of the greatest English players of the recent generations. It is not surprising that he is an idol for the likes ofKane, who have been linked with a £ 40 million move to Old Trafford. After an impressive campaign with Tottenham, it is not surprising to see top clubs interested in the England international.
The rise to stardom has been almost instant forKane, who has spent the last few seasons on loan at various lower league clubs. He got his first attention at White Hart Lane under the regime of former boss Tim Sherwood. It took a while before Mauricio Pochettino was convinced to give him a Premier League start, butKane has not disappointed him one bit.Kane has gone on to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season. More is expected to come for the player if he continues in the same rich vein of form.
“He [Beckham] was a big role model of mine growing up. We’re from the same area. He’s always got time for people and fans, and he’s obviously doing very well off the pitch as well. He’s a great professional and looking at players like him can only make you a better person and a better player.I met him when I was in year seven. Because he was in the same secondary school as me we got to launch the David Beckham Academy at the O2,” said the Tottenham star.
