Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has identified Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa as his next star at Anfield, according to reports in Germany.
claims the German coach would make a move for the player this summer. Liverpool should be able to match his £26 million transfer valuation.
Costa is expected to provide competition for Sadio Mane. The African has been sterling since his move from Southampton last summer. Injuries and his absence due to AFCON affected the team. It seems Klopp is focused on plugging all the hopes of this season. Costa would provide cover for the team on the flanks and contribute to the attacking prowess of the Reds.
Juventus and Tottenham are reportedly keen on the Brazilian as well. Klopp would have to convince the player to move to Anfield despite the other interested parties vying for his signature. Continue reading KLOPP WANTS DOUGLAS COSTA
Liverpool attacker Adam Lallana on Wednesday scored twice and set up another to gift The Reds a much-needed mood-lifting 3-nil win away at Middlesbrough.
After the heart breaking loss against Bournemouth and draw against West Ham United Jurgen Klopp’s men travelled to the Riverside stadium hoping to turn their misfortunes around and they did just that.
One major change to the Merseyside outfit’s starting line-up was Simon Mignolet in place of under-fire Lloris Karius. The former Mainz shot-stopper has had his hand full with outrages from fans and criticisms from pundits most notably Phil and Garry Neville within these past two weeks.
Mignolet was hardly called into action as Aitor Karanka’s men blunt attack failed to ask questions of The Reds’ otherwise weak defence – Liverpool have conceded more than any other team in the top six – or did they create any meaningful chance to have a go at the visitor’s back line.
The Reds started the game with ameasured pace, poking around the home sides’ crowded defence until Adam Lallana’s 29th minute brilliant finish sparked Jurgen Klopp’s men to action. Sadio Mane came close on more than one occasion while wasting the chances created. Lallana’s brilliance however saw the reds go 2-0 up at the 60th minute after some clever footwork from the England international set up Divick Origi to score his fifth goal in as many matches.
