David Beckham Pays Tribute to Robbie Keane after InternationalRetirement

David Beckham paid a tribute to Republic of Ireland star Robbie Keane after the striker announced his retirement from international football.Keane has been the face of the Republic of Ireland team for the last decade.


He has been one of the best players and losing him was always on the cards as he entered into the late 30s. Now with LA Galaxy, the striker is in the last few years of his career. As with every other major player, the national team will have to move one and find a replacement. It will be easier said than done sinceKeane has been one of the greatest goalscorers the national team has seen.

Keane has scored 67 goals in a whopping 145 appearances for the national team. Due to the number of appearances he has featured for Ireland, Keane is in an elite group of players that includes names like Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos. The striker made his debut in 1998 after having just won the UEFA European Under-18 Football Championship. His success with Ireland was limited and the only chance he won a trophy with the national team was in 2011 when they lifted the Nations Cup. Even then,Keane’s time with the national team will be fondly remembered.
