BECKHAM STAYING AT HOME

Former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and AC Milan star David Beckham is unlikely to be part of the LA Galaxy squad that will travel to Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night. One of the most absurd reasons being given for this absence is the fact that David Beckham is celebrating his birthday. It has infuriated a number of the LA Galaxy fans, who have been already angered at the lack of commitment shown by the England midfielder. David Beckham famously flew to England in order to attend the Royal wedding in the middle of the season.

When asked if David Beckham will miss the match against Seattle Sounders, the LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena was extremely noncommittal. He said that David Beckham is not the only player in the squad and that they have many quality players. There have also been rumours that David Beckham will miss a number of matches for LA Galaxy this season because of his desire to play for the Team GB at the Olympics. It was only a few months ago that many MLS fans were excited at the prospect of seeing David Beckham once again. The England midfielder came extremely close to leaving the club in the summer for French club PSG only for the move to fall in the final stage.

“We’re taking it one game at a time this year with everything. We haven’t made any decisions [with] what’s going to happen over the season. We don’t know whether David will be selected for Great Britain’s Olympic team, so we don’t know a lot of those things that will play a role in how much he plays during the year and especially in the week where we have three games,” Arena said ahead of the match with Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night.
